Derrik Khoo Sin
Huat
Chief
Executive Officer
Derrik Khoo Sin Huat is CEO of ACGT
Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Plantations Berhad, the
plantation arm of the Genting Group and the eighth largest oil palm
plantation company in the world*. ACGT is a BioNexus Company.**
Prior to his appointment, Derrik was the Chief Innovation Officer,
Genting Berhad, between August 2006 and January 2008.
Derrik sits on the Genting Group Executive Committee and the Genting Plantations Berhad Executive
Committee.
Derrik works in a demanding innovation environment. Externally, the palm
oil business is a mature and established industry with clear business
models, where change does not occur often. The asset intensity is very
high; innovation requires major capital equipment. The internal
environment is just as challenging. While the innovation is able to be
isolated within a single business unit, close coordination across
business units, functions and regions are necessary.
Genting Plantations Berhad, is successful and thus, very busy
operationally. But there is an entrepreneurial culture in the Genting
Group. Under the leadership of its Chairman & CEO, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay,
innovation is a core part of the Genting DNA. This is also a legacy of
the founder of the Genting Group, the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.
*Ranked by market capitalisation and
mostly located in Indonesia & Malaysia. Both countries are the top
producers of the vegetable oil.
