Chan Chee Leong
Consultant, Agronomy
Chan Chee Leong is the Agronomic
Consultant, Jatropha for ACGT. He was formerly Asiatic Development
Berhad’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Plantation from 1998 until his
retirement in 2003.
Mr. Chan brings with him over 30 years of experience in agronomy. He has
a BSc (Hons) Agriculture and MSc from the University of Reading,
England. Mr. Chan began his career as an Assistant Estate Manager with
Kumpulan Gutherie Bhd before joining MARDI and PORIM on research as
Plant Pathologist for Cocoa in 1972. He later became an Agronomist for
Oil Palm. In 1985, Mr. Chan joined Asiatic Development Berhad as an
Agronomist and Head of Asiatic Research Centre. He was then promoted to
Planting Adviser/Regional Manager before becoming the company’s COO of
Plantation. Upon his retirement, Mr. Chan has been appointed as
plantation consultant and Agronomic Consultant to several oil palm
companies.
Mr. Chan was a recipient of the East-West Centre Fellowship in 1977. As
an East-West Centre Fellow, he studied Crop Protection at the University
of Hawaii at Manoa. He was also a recipient of the Australian Colombo
Plan Fellowship in 1984 to study Management Development at the
International Training Institute, Sydney. |
