Backed by the World’s Best
In its effort to establish a
world-class centre of excellence in
genomic science in Malaysia, ACGT
receives technical assistance from
J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI), a
renowned non-profit institute
dedicated to the advancement of the
science of genomics. In doing so, it
brings to fruition ACGT’s aspiration
to be a leading genomics centre of
excellence.
About J. Craig Venter Institute
The J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI)
was formed in October 2006 through
the merger of several affiliated and
legacy organizations — The Institute
for Genomic Research (TIGR) and The
Center for the Advancement of
Genomics (TCAG), The J. Craig Venter
Science Foundation, The Joint
Technology Center, and the Institute
for Biological Energy Alternatives (IBEA).
Currently, these organizations have
become one large multidisciplinary
genomic-focused organization. With
more than 400 scientists and staff,
more than 250,000 square feet of
laboratory space, and locations in
Rockville, Maryland and La Jolla,
California, the new JCVI is a world
leader in genomic research. JCVI
research groups focus on human
genomic medicine, infectious
disease, plant, microbial and
environmental genomics, synthetic
biology and biological energy,
bioinformatics, and software
engineering. One of their core areas
has always been high-throughput
genomic sequencing. |
